A student allegedly assaulted a California High School assistant principal during the school’s homecoming dance in San Ramon last week.
San Ramon Valley Unified School District Superintendent CJ Cammack sent a letter dated Oct. 21 to district parents, saying the school official approached two students in the parking lot and one of the students assaulted the assistant principal.
Cammack said the two students aren’t Cal High students but do attend another school in the district.
San Ramon police arrested the juvenile, Cammack said. Messages left for San Ramon police and the school district Thursday afternoon weren’t returned.
Cammack didn’t address the school official’s injuries, if any, and whether they were back at school this week.
“We want to be clear that, in no uncertain terms, this conduct will not be tolerated at Cal High or at any school in SRVUSD,” Cammack wrote. “We care deeply about the safety and well-being of our students, as well as all of our staff.”
Cammack wrote, in addition to the police investigation, the district will do its own investigation and “pursue all disciplinary consequences to the fullest extent permissible by law.”
“We want to be clear that, in no uncertain terms, we take the safety of our students and our staff as a top priority,” Cammack wrote. “Unsafe conduct will not be tolerated at Cal High or at any school in SRVUSD. “
Cammack said district schools offer counseling support and encourages parents to reach out if they feel their student could benefit from speaking with one.
