
The Santa Rosa City Council has a new mayor and vice mayor.
At its Dec. 17 meeting, the council selected Mark Stapp, councilmember for District 2, to serve as mayor. District 1 representative Eddie Alvarez was chosen as vice mayor after a 4-3 vote. Stapp will serve through December 2026, while Alvarez’s term runs through the end of 2025.
Caroline Bañuelos, representing District 5, took an oath as a new council member, succeeding longtime Councilmember Chris Rogers.
Reelected members Dianna MacDonald of District 3 and Natalie Rogers of District 7 were also sworn in, city officials said.
