Orlando Cepeda, the San Francisco Giants’ Hall of Famer and 10-time All-Star, died at his Concord home Friday night, the Giants said. He was 86.

“Our beloved Orlando passed away peacefully at home this evening, listening to his favorite music and surrounded by his loved ones,” his wife, Nydia, said in a Giants news release. “We take comfort that he is at peace.”

Born Sept. 17, 1937, in Puerto Rico, Cepeda played 17 years in the Majors with six different teams, including nine seasons with the Giants. He won a World Series title in 1966 as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals. He spent the last 33 years as a Community Ambassador for the Giants and was a member of the Giants Community Fund Advisory Board. San Francisco retired his No. 30 jersey in 1999.

“We lost a true gentleman and legend,” Giants Chairman Greg Johnson said in a news release. “Orlando was a great ambassador for the game throughout his playing career and beyond. He was one of the all-time great Giants and he will truly be missed.”

Cepeda is the second Giants legend to pass away this month. On June 18, the team mourned the death of All-Star slugger Willie Mays at 93. The two played alongside each other during Cepeda’s stint in the Bay Area.
