As wildfires continue to burn in Los Angeles, San Mateo County residents are being invited to learn steps they can take to protect their homes and families from wildfires and other emergencies Tuesday.
A free webinar covering topics including easy steps to boost preparedness, packing a “go bag,” creating defensible space and accessing free and low-cost resources is being co-sponsored by the San Mateo County Department of Emergency Management and Thrive, an alliance of local nonprofits.
Taking steps now to protect your home and prepare your family can help reduce the threat as well as the stress during an emergency, the county said.
“These safety tips are for everyone, whether you live in a home in the woods or an apartment near a grove of trees that can send embers flying in intense winds,” said Shruti Dhapodkar, director of the County’s Department of Emergency Management. “The time to prepare is now.”
The free webinar will be held from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. on the Zoom platform. No registration or signup is required.
