Contra Costa Transportation Authority wants to know residents’ thoughts on improving public transit, enhancing bike and pedestrian infrastructure, filling in frustrating transit gaps, and creating cutting-edge mobility options.
CCTA is conducting a survey to get feedback to help guide the agency as it updates its long-term plan for transportation in Contra Costa County.
CCTA executive director Tim Haile said in a statement that some of the agency’s most successful projects have come from ideas from the public.
“The Caldecott Tunnel Fourth Bore, for example, was a direct response to community concerns about traffic and safety,” Haile said. “And our INNOVATE 680 project — where smart technologies like express lanes and real-time traffic management are helping to ease commutes — was inspired by the input we gathered from residents just like you.”
Haile said CCTA wants to hear people’s boldest ideas.

“Imagine self-driving shuttles connecting communities, affordable on-demand rides for seniors, electric bikes and scooters for quick errands, or more intelligent traffic signals that truly respond to how people move around our cities,” Haile said. “This isn’t just another survey; it’s our way of understanding what Contra Costa really needs so we can deliver innovative transportation solutions for all of us.”
CCTA will host community events across the county over the next year to get input.
“Your ideas will directly shape Contra Costa’s transportation future,” Haile said. “This is your opportunity to influence how our county moves, connects, and grows. So please, add your voice to the conversation. Together, we can build a dynamic, innovative transportation network that truly serves our diverse community.”
People who fill out the survey could win one of five $100 virtual Visa gift cards.
