The Marin County Free Library has just reached a major milestone, with one million digital checkouts through its “Libby” app, library officials announced.
With over 100,000 titles, the Libby app offers materials including eBooks, audiobooks, comics, manga and magazines. The collection includes materials for all ages and titles in Spanish, as well as access to magazines including The New Yorker.
The app is part of a library consortium, MARINet, which includes local public and academic libraries, online access to The New York Times and internet connectivity for public libraries.
“The MARINet consortium is a tremendous asset for every resident of Marin,” Lana Adlawan, director of the Marin County Free Library, in a statement.
“With easy-to-use digital content and thousands of books available for checkout in every neighborhood, Marin’s libraries truly strive to meet people where they are. We celebrate this milestone as a demonstration and commitment to a valued community resource,” Adlawan said.
