San Mateo County’s probate courtroom is moving to the Central Branch Courthouse in San Mateo beginning July 22.

The courtroom is currently in the Hall of Justice Courthouse at Redwood City. A reason for the relocation was not provided.

Probate courts are responsible for handling estate, conservatorship, guardianship, trust, elder abuse cases and other miscellaneous proceedings, according to the county’s superior court website.

According to a news release, Judge Leland David III will continue to preside over the probate court, soon to be in Courtroom G at the Central Branch Courthouse. Probate ex parte matters will continue to be heard between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., Monday through Friday.

The Probate Clerk’s Office and Probate Court Investigators will remain at their current Redwood City locations.

Payment of all fees for general probate ex parte motions must be paid before entering the courtroom. Payments can be submitted directly to the probate courtroom clerk at the Central Branch Courthouse, according to the news release, but other probate fees still need to be paid at the Probate Clerk’s Office at the Hall of Justice Courthouse. The court currently only accepts checks for payment but is working on developing other payment methods.
