U.S. Rep. Mark DeSaulnier, D-Walnut Creek, will host a town hall meeting Wednesday evening in Danville to discuss immigration.

DeSaulnier’s office said Tuesday the congressman will only release the venue location to people who RSVP for the event, due to concerns over security and venue capacity.

DeSaulnier said in an email to constituents announcing the meeting “The Trump Administration’s actions on immigration have been extreme, dangerous, and, in many cases, struck down by the courts. From sending migrants to Guantanamo Bay to deporting hundreds of Venezuelans to a foreign ‘Terrorism Confinement Center’ to opening up public places like schools and churches to ICE raids: people are scared among the makings of a constitutional crisis.”

DeSaulnier said he’ll also discuss the Trump Administration’s proposal to turn former Federal Correctional Institution Dublin into an ICE detention facility.

The event will also serve as an immigration resource fair, with local organizations there, providing resources regarding the immigration process and immigrant rights, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The town hall will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Confirmed attendees will receive more information, including the exact location, prior to the event.

The meeting will also be live streamed on Facebook. There’s no need to RSVP to participate in the live stream.
