The electric bicycle rental program Redwood Bikeshare expanded to the city of Novato this month.

The program, which is run by the company Drop Mobility in partnership with regional transit agencies, expanded its operation in the city of Santa Rosa in late February and is now available in multiple cities in Sonoma and Marin counties, connecting cities along the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit corridor, from Larkspur to Santa Rosa.

Novato debuted the program with multiple locations downtown and at the three SMART stations in the city. Additional docking locations, known as hubs, will be launched in the coming weeks, according to a news release from the city.

There are additional drop locations to return bikes other than the current docking stations. Those are located at the farmers market downtown and the city administrative offices parking lot on Machin Avenue.

The program requires an app to use that is available for Apple and Android devices.

A coupon code “RideRedwood” was provided by the city for first-time users that will unlock three 30-minute rides within 30 days.

Another coupon code is meant to spur rides to the Downtown Novato Community Farmers’ Market on Sherman Avenue and Cain Lane. Enter the code “NovatoFarmers” to unlock two additional 30-minute rides.

Riders must be 18 or older, according to the company’s website.

Fees range from 25 cents per minute, with a $1 unlocking fee, or $20 per day with no unlocking fee, along with a monthly pass for $20 that waives the unlocking fee and provides 30 minutes of rides free each day, and 25 cents per minute after that.

Discounted memberships and rides are available for MediCal and CalFresh recipients.

More information and docking locations are available on the Redwood Bikeshare website.
