Bimbo Bakeries USA Inc. will pay a $162,000 fine to settle two violations issued by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District at its South San Francisco facility.
Air district officials say the company, a property of the Mexico City-based international mega-brand Grupo Bimbo, failed to conduct annual emissions source tests on their boilers for five years.
The air district also levied a one-day, carbon monoxide exceedance violation on the company, according to a news release Wednesday.
In an emailed statement, a company spokesperson said, “We strive to be leaders in sustainability and recognize the importance of ensuring compliance with air quality regulations. We cooperated with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District to resolve the matter swiftly.”
Bimbo Bakeries USA Inc., which air district officials said agreed to pay the fine, produces such brands as Thomas’, Entenmann’s and Sara Lee.
