San Ramon’s Bollinger Canyon Road to close for 3 days for trail overcrossing construction

Bollinger Canyon Road in San Ramon will completely close between Camino Ramon and Market Place from Nov. 6-9.

This closure is necessary for workers conducting a critical phase of construction on the Iron Horse Trail Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing, where precast concrete deck panels will be set into the overcrossing framework.

The city said, once this part of the work is complete, the public can see the full overcrossing base structure. The entire overcrossing won’t be complete or open until summer 2025.

Detours will direct traffic around the construction zone. City Hall and the Marketplace Shopping Center will be open with access from westbound Bollinger Canyon Road.

Construction will require safety measures, since workers will be using large cranes to lift heavy deck panels of the overcrossing into place. It won’t be safe for vehicle safety measures to drive under the work.

Pedestrians and bicycles can continue to use the existing sidewalk detour route on the south side of Bollinger Canyon Road. Pedestrian scaffolding has been constructed for protection.

Anyone with questions can contact Acting Senior Civil Engineer Theresa Peterson at (925) 973-2685 or email tpeterson@sanramon.ca.gov.
