Mayor Daniel Lurie announced the return of the San Francisco Fire Commission’s president and the appointment of a new member of the panel.
Marcy Fraser, a registered nurse who has served as president of the commission since 2022, will be joined by lawyer Allan Low, who has served on the Recreation and Park Commission for nine years, according to a press release from the mayor’s office.
Fraser was part of the first team of nurses who volunteered at the beginning of the HIV/AIDS epidemic to work on Ward 5B at San Francisco General Hospital, the world’s first AIDS inpatient ward, the mayor’s office said.
She worked as the executive director of an HIV health services nonprofit in the Tenderloin. She is a member of the board of directors of the National AIDS Memorial and the Ryan White/HIV Planning Council.
The mayor’s office described Low as a community leader in Chinatown and the Asian American community and an expert in real estate and construction finance. He has worked for more than 30 years with nonprofit affordable housing organizations, according to the mayor’s press release.
