Santa Rosa woman named administrator of Veterans Home California in Yountville

Holly Holtzen of Santa Rosa has been appointed administrator of the Veterans Home of California, Yountville, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced last week.

The home, established in 1884, cares for 876 residents and their spouses on a 600-acre campus, according to CalVet. It is open to homeless or disabled veterans 55 or older, who served on active duty.

Holtzen was state director of AARP from 2019 to 2024. She held several positions at the Ohio Housing Finance Agency from 2009 to 2019, including acting executive director from 2018 to 2019 and chief operating officer from 2017 to 2019.

She holds a PhD in health services research from Old Dominion University, a master’s in public administration from Troy University and a bachelor’s in business administration from Saint Leo University.
